Somatic Movement is coming to Nova Scotia!
Somatic movement classes use a series of gentle movements that help to:
• reduce pain
• improve posture
• improve fluidity of movement
• and allow you to feel more energetic
It’s not magic , it’s science
It is slow, gentle movement designed to free your body of held tension. Most movements are done lying on a mat, eyes closed, and uses a pandicular response.
So what is pandiculation?
Think of a dog or cat s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g after a nap. They are pandiculating!
In our somatic practice, we use this pandicular response to release tension in specific areas of the body. These movements are done in a specific way – very slowly! – so as to allow our brain to register the changes we are trying to make in our bodies.
These gentle movements work with your nervous system to create ease of movement and get rid of pain and discomfort.
Never heard of Somatic Movement? No problem! These movements are very gentle and very easy to learn.
Somatic Movement truly is for every body.
Whether you want to move better, feel better, or are just curious, this 2 hour experiential workshop will give you a taste of what Somatic Movement is all about!
You will need a mat, 2 hand towels, hydration and comfy clothes. That’s it!
