Somatic movement classes use a series of gentle movements that help to:
- reduce pain
- improve posture
- improve fluidity of movement
- and allow you to feel more energetic!
It’s not magic , it’s science
It is slow, gentle movement designed to free your body of held tension. Most movements are done lying on a mat, eyes closed, and use a pandicular response. These gentle movements work with your nervous system to create ease of movement and get rid of pain and discomfort.
So what is pandiculation?
Think of a dog or cat s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g after a nap. They are pandiculating! In our somatic practice, we use this pandicular response to release tension in specific areas of the body. These movements are done in a specific way – very slowly! – so as to allow our brain to register the changes we are trying to make in our bodies.
Somatic Movement truly is for every body.
You will need a mat, 2 hand towels, hydration and comfy clothes. That’s it!
